Agapanthus, also known as African Lily or Lily of the Nile, shows off more and more each year in our garden. The flowers are large (4-5" across) and have a great vase life, the white holds extremely well for a white flower, and, once established, the plants are loaded with blooms. They are very heat tolerant and bloom later than most spring perennials, filling a nice window in June with blooms. A showstopper in the garden, complements all other colors well. Likes full sun, well drained soil, and has average water needs. Dies back to the ground each year, benefits from a winter mulch.
